After the co-owner of Bagels on The Park in Carroll Gardens died, a kind of Bagel Shrine went up on Smith Street in his honor. It has been up for several weeks, in front of the Gowanus Yacht Club, which the bagel store adjoins.

This shrine is for Jerry “Bagels” a great guy and a great character in the neighbourhood who died far too young.

    RIP Jerry, we miss you.

Is this the same guy, “Jimmy” that owed the prior Smith-Union?

To anybody who knew Jerry: if you have any comments you’d like to make about him, I’d be happy to hear them (I’m a journalism student).
