Our beloved contributor and photographer Deborah Matack, who has a sharp eye and a kind soul to match it, wrote with this photo: “I was just saying to my mother several days ago that I was hoping for more snow. She said Be careful what you wish for. How come I don’t get my other wishes?? I took a hike in Owls Head Park earlier and got this shot looking toward the 69th Street Pier, the Narrows and Staten Island.”

I don’t know whether someone will read this, but I have been informed about the death of Robert Guskind and wish to make a statement. I never met him, unfortunately, but he had the biggest heart for people and for animals, and he was a priceless asset to the borough of Brooklyn, this website is fantastic. Bob provided me with many opportunities to show my work and I will be forever grateful to his kindness. Robert, rest in peace. We are all poorer for the loss of you.

I read your comment Deborah, and enjoyed your picture. I was shocked to hear about the founder of Gowanus Lounge’s passing away. Robert Guskind – I never knew his name before. But living in Gowanus, I loved Gowanus Lounge. It’s such a class act. And I am grateful to Mr. Guskind, may he rest in peace.
