Senator Daniel Squadron and Assemblymember Joan Millman sponsored a resolution to honor the life and work of Gowanus Lounge founder Bob Guskind. (The memorial gathering is Saturday.)
Resolution 1131 passed in both houses on Tuesday. The video shows Squadron speaking on the resolution. Among the quotes: “He took this new form of communication and really took it to a new level. He was able to take community concerns, describe them, and distill them, and distribute them in ways that never could’ve happened without him. We’re going to miss him sorely.”

I think we should push for naming a part of Gowanus after Bob. How about renaming the Carroll street bridge the “Guskind Memorial Bridge”

I am thrilled to hear that Bob has been honored by the NYS legislature. After attending yesterday’s memorial event, I am amazed at the ability of this man to bring so many divergent neighborhoods and groups together from all over Brooklyn. I miss reading the daily posts, there is no other source of news for the entire borough. I feel honored that Bob included me among his contributors. Again, I wish to express my condolences to his wife, Olivia, and his family, friends and colleagues.

It takes a huge effort and a certain resumé to get things named after people. Not sure Bob would qualify. I would LOVE to see something like that happen, but, look up the qualifications. I’m not sure he meets the requirements. The Carroll St Bridge is a landmark, no? Not sure about changing that name. 3rd street may be better choice.
