Bklink: Primary Day

September 9th, 2008 · 1 Comment

link-asterisk.jpgToday is Primary Day, with a number of important races likely to be decided today, rather than in November when some candidates will be running with only token opposition from the other party. There are crucial contests for State Senate and Assembly, among other things, in many districts in both North and South Brooklyn. Polls are open from 6AM-9PM. There is general info here and click here for the city’s polling place locator if you don’t know where yours is.

I just went to my assigned polling place at John Jay High School on 7th Ave. in the Slope this morning and there are no election staff or machines. Does anyone know whether there is, in fact, a primary for Assembly District 52 / Election District 036? Could it be that there were no contested races so they just canceled the primary (without notice) in our district? But I thought that there was at least a judicial election going on. Hmmm …
