The Big Hole at 340 Court About to Get Drilled

July 10th, 2008 · No Comments

This is the former site of the International Longshoreman’s Association Building (aka 340 Court) at Court and Union that has been the subject of much contention and bitterness in the neighborhood. There’s nothing left of the old structure but a lot of rubble and a hole where the building’s basement used to be. A couple of days ago large drilling and concrete crushing machines were brought on site to advance the demolition and foundation creation cause. The developer, the Clarett Group, has told neighbors there won’t be any pile driving done for construction and that alternate techniques will be used.
