New Rockaways Ferry to Stop in Sunset Park

May 5th, 2008 · 1 Comment

The city is announcing a new subsidized ferry service today that will run from the Rockaways to Lower Manhattan with a revived stop in Sunset Park. It’s part of the a “5-Borough ferry service initiative of PlaNYC 2030.” This service will include a stop at the Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, where the announcement will be made at noon. New York Water Taxi is going to operate the ferry service, with new service possible as early as next Monday, May 12. The Sunset Park stop was axed over the winter because of low ridership. There’s a press release here from the Sunset-Ridge Waterfront Alliance.
