Irony: Henry St. TV Repair Shop Being Converted to Restaurant/Bar

December 17th, 2008 · 8 Comments

Remember the old G&D TV Repair Shop on Henry Street near Atlantic Avenue that correspondent F. Jasmin Adams reported had closed and speculated that it would be turned into a restaurant or wine bar? Wall, Ms. Adams passed by poked her camera inside and found that 329 Henry Street is, indeed, being converted to an “eating and drinking place” per DOB records. This appeals to our sense of irony more than we can say.

Please explain further. Why is it particularly ironic that a former television repair shop should become a restaurant?

Irony because SHE poked her camera in THERE.

And also because TV killed the family dinner, but here is a family dinner killing TV.

that’s not irony. it’s just gentrification. and pretty light gentrification at that, considering how much it costs to live at the corner of henry/atlantic.

so many places to eat bourgeois dinner, and no place to fix my broken stereo. it’s a real bummer to see G & D go.
