Boerum Hill Mayhem: SUV vs. Brownstone

December 3rd, 2008 · 7 Comments

As Curbed reported this morning, a driver of an SUV attempting to park in Boerum Hill somehow drove her SUV into a brownstone, put it in reverse and ended up trashing several cars before her own vehicle overturned. She claims the accelerator jammed, which still doesn’t explain driving into a building and then back out into the street. The hole above is what happens when an SUV drives into your brownstone (pretty damned fast by the look of things). The photo below show the overturned SUV and the rescue of the driver. It’s a miracle that no one was killed or seriously injured. The building that was trashed was at 232 Wyckoff Street. A GL reader sent us these photos.

Actually, the address was 225A Wyckoff Street. I know for sure; I live next door.

You can see the way it used to look on Google maps street view. They say it’s 230 Wyckoff Street. But that’s approximate. It’s the only blue brownstone on the block. How did the driver get past the tree that’s along the curb?

She won’t be punished, she might get sued, but she won’t be punished.

I swear, it’s 225A. And it’s not blue, it’s green. A pale, sort of sea foam green.

    And…it’s not a “Brownstone” if it’s BRICK.

This was actually a stunt set for a new Michael Bay film.
