Development Notebook: How to Put Skin on a Scarano

November 6th, 2008 · 1 Comment

We’ve been writing about this Robert Scarano building at 365 Union Avenue in Williamsburg so long that it seems like we started covering it in a past life. (Last week, on Curbed, we named it the Prince of Darkness Building.) That’s how long it’s taken to build. We did recently capture a shot of workers applying some of the black exterior to the thing on a Sunday, so it’s safe to say we’ve now seen a Scarano getting skinned.

Ah, another odd curtain/fascia wall “skin” for yet another fugly Scarano building. So, so far we have on the materials list in Brooklyn: black brick, gray or black stucco, faux wood, metal sheathing and now black (metal?) sheathing.

What in the world are these materials going to look like in 5 years, let alone 2. Once of the building’s in our area on 20th St is RUSTING after only being occupied less than a year.

    Good grief Bobby!
