Question of the Day: What’s Up with the Madman of Bedford?

November 3rd, 2008 · 2 Comments

link-asterisk.jpgHere’s an interesting question about someone that many people familiar with Bedford Avenue may have encountered from time to time. It comes from Brooklynian, where our friend is described as “crazy” but “articulate”: “This guy’s hard to miss. He’s tall and has crazy hair, and he preaches about God and sin and so on. He’s usually testifying just ouside the Bedford L-stop, but I also saw him admonish this dude once in McCarren Park for taking his shirt off with women around. Does anyone know anything more about him? Have any stories about the madman of Williamsburg?”

He’s loud and won’t.stop.yelling sometimes but, *meh*, no big deal. I do wonder about him though because I’ve seen him almost get hit by cars and buses a bunch of times when he walks down the middle of Bedford Ave and shouts about God and stuff.

When I first moved to my apartment on Bedford, I was pretty creeped out by him, but now I’m kinda indifferent towards him. He’s usually shouting about society’s treatment of women more than God. He’s been showing up a lot recently, I think its because of the election. He always ignores everybody around him, unless you shout at him. I have seen him run down the street yelling at some people after they really egged him on.
