Mass Transit: “Psycho B67 Bus Driver”

June 8th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Generally the bus-related rants that we come across have to do with the reviled B61. This one, however, which was posted by to Brooklynian by apresvu has to do with the B67, which we don’t hear about very much. Here it is:

I take the B67 every morning usually about 7:25am from south slope heading north. Until about two months ago there was a very pleasant driver who would greet passengers with a “Good Morning”. Hey, I’m not even looking for a greeting, but it was nice and I would return the greeting. However, the past few months have been vastly different. How do I put it, this driver absolutly refuses to recognize a passenger, he looks straight ahead, and he has that scary look in his eye. Like “don’t fuck with me or I’ll kill you“. I’ve overheard other passengers call him “Mr. Personality”.

Anyway, yesterday he picked me up at my stop, which is across the street from a middle school. Immediately after boarding I heard half the bus saying “back door! back door! There is no way he didn’t hear them. So I turned around and yelled “back door”(there were probably ten people wanting to get off). Well this guy started to drive. Then practically everyone on the bus started yelling. He stopped the bus and screamed”You have to press the button!” What? A classic case of a power trip. Trust me anyone who’s taken a ride with this nut knows who I’m talking about.

Here’s one reply, from Raw, that we found interesting:

I was on a 3rd Avenue Brooklyn bus around 3 PM and witnessed a bus driver threatening to punch teenage girl passengers who looked terrified and seemed to be regular riders. He was definitely psycho. I called the MTA and reported him. Maybe they put him on your route.

Love they driver.

Is there a separate button for the back door, or does he see no obligation if there was no “stop requested”? I take the 67 regularly, usually exit the front, and generally thank my bus drivers when I board and again when I disembark. For some reason, they’re always nice, and even seem to wait an extra second if I’m barreling towards the stop.

I think I’ve been on that guy’s bus before.

Write down the bus number, time and date and file a complaint with the MTA. They will take your complaint seriously and it will be both put on the operator’s record and dealt with.
