Brookbit: Energy Scammers Still Working the Slope

December 19th, 2008 · 2 Comments

This came in from Park Slope yesterday afternoon and tells us that (surprise) the slimy energy scammers that have been working their asses off all over Brooklyn trying to rip people off are still out there: “A male-and-female team of IDT Energy reps just rang our door bell (Thursday, 2 p.m.). I told them to hit the road, and immediately sent a message of warning to our block association.” [GL Inbox]

They were working 5th Avenue as late as 8 p.m. Pushed into my building (lousy lock) and rang doorbells with their scam. I had to call the cops to get him to leave the building. Filed a police report for trespassing.

On Thursday evening, around 6:30 PM, I observed two separate teams of “IDT Energy” scammers working Eighth Ave. and Garfield Pl. I told them that the neighborhood was aware of their scam and would refuse to engage in discussions with them. They looked at me as if I was speaking Martian.
