“Organized Incident” at Sunset Park Pool & Turds in Red Hook?

July 14th, 2008 · 4 Comments

Here, from our Park Slope Parents inbox folder that’s kept full by recipients who send along the newsworthy and/or interesting ones, is an exchange about the Sunset Park and Red Hook Pools. We begin with this:

I went to the sunset park pool less than 2 weeks on a tuesday around 5pm and there was an organized incident where about 30 teenage boys started diving and jumping into the pool all at the same time, over and over. The life guards couldn’t control them and two minutes later, police came out and shut down the pool–everyone had to leave. Thank goodness i happened to be in the middle of the pool with my two children when it started. When we came out, two of our towels were stolen. Now i have a bad taste in my mouth over sunset.

And then, we have this:

Same thing happened when I was at Red Hook Pool too. Teenagers jumping in and shutting down pool for a bit. Another time there was something left in the pool, some kind of excrement I think from a teenager. So gross. Pool was closed after that for serious clean up and reopened a couple hours later. Stuff happens and things, teenagers love to test their boundaries. I don’t even want to say what I saw a bunch of poly prep teenagers do on the subway once!!!

Oh, but we’d love the Poly Prep details. Seriously, though, in all fairness, both the Sunset Park and Red Hook pools are known to be pretty well managed, with the Red Hook one, in particular, being absolutely famous for its no-nonsense approach.

Maybe it was just a Baby Ruth bar?
    [“Caddyshack” reference, for sure].

seriously, where did these park slopers grow up where teenage boys didn’t cause problems at the local pool?

what is actually gross is the babies…

yeah that diaper is full and not with water.

or worse yet is that J Crew bathing suit from 1992 these white women from the slope wear…

    call the fashion police.
