Happy Ending: Windsor Terrace Dog-Napping Victim Found!

January 30th, 2008 · 5 Comments

The story of Samantha, the dog-napping victim from Windsor Terrace, has ended happily, although the story is still strange and disturbing. We got an email last night that said:

There were signs up in stores all over Windsor Terrace. Today Samantha’s owner was going to the stores carrying Samantha, who has been retrieved! Her owner told me that Samantha was put up for sale on the street. Someone bought her for $650 and then saw the story about her missing on the news. Now she is home again. (The whole story is strange–I’ve never seen anyone selling a dog on the street…)

Samantha’s story was run here on Saturday, on New York Shitty and on many other blogs and online news sites before being picked up by the print media and television. We’re not entirely sure who buys a dog for $650 “on the street,” but we’re certain that print and TV will be “breaking” the story shortly.

The women saw the report on News 12Brooklyn. Why isn’t anyone specifically saying that?

Why are there no details of this? Who bought the dog or was it a hoax? Did she pay the person back? Did she install a burglar alarm? What is up with this story??????

Never tie a purebred dog outside a store. This is not an unusual thing to happen at all. It’s more common in L.A., where my neighbor’s chihuahua was taken from their yard, and where my friend’s Jack Russell puppy was nearly taken when she tied him outside a restaurant. Sensing a guy petting the dog was suspicious she ran outside and got the dog. But you have to assume it’s always possible everywhere. Saddest story of all – when my parents were young my mother gave my dad a dachshund puppy he doted over and took everwhere with him. He adored it. He ran inside a store leaving the dog in his car with the window just cracked, and somebody took the dog. My father was devastated. He refuses to talk about it. Just NEVER leave your dog outside unattended. Period.

Uhh…the dog was stolen from INSIDE the woman’s apartment. As in a break in.
